allergies

I've been trying to take out the rosemary we have growing by the pool. I found out I'm very allergic to it. I can only work on it for about an hour before I have to stop.
I still haven't posted any new knitting. Maybe when the weather cools off.

Fish Pond

I just wanted to show our backyard fish pond. The first photo was taken when it was first built. The second is what it looks like now 5 years later. We have 5 goldfish and many mosquito fish living there. I love having a pond and would recommend everyone have one.

crocheted Wasp, Hornet nest

I made this crocheted wasp nest last summer as a decoy. It's supposed to keep the real wasps and hornets from building a nest near your house.
I believe it really worked. I have a small fish pond just off the patio where alot of wasps and hornets visit. Before putting up this nest I was always finding the beginnings of real nests being built. Since putting up the fake nest they just seem to land on the water for a drink then fly off in my neighbors direction. I found the pattern at Hankering for Yarn blog, but it seems she has since removed the pattern. Here is the link anyway: Hankering for Yarn

World War II needles

I found these knitting needles in a thrift shop a few years ago. At the time of purchase I had no idea they were needles used to make items for veterans in the war.
While reading one of my recent knitting magazines I came across an article about these needles. They are a size 5 and I have only the two. I'm searching for a pattern from that era that I can use to work with these needles. I'm thinking socks but I'd have to add another 2 or 3 needles depending on the pattern.

Friday Yarn

I have wound one of my Malibrigo sock yarn on a dowel I'm using as a Nostepinne. I found the directions online that shows how to do this. I found it quite interesting. It does take longer to wind the yarn this way than onto a ball winder. The other two photos are of purple yarn that my daughter requested. The middle photo is Cascade 220, worsted weight. The top photo is Cascade yarn Baby Alpace also in the color purple. The baby alpaca is very soft and I think my daughter will enjoy working with it.

Finally a post

I knitted these socks for my daughter who attends TA&M University. (Texas Aggie) I had wanted to knit her something in the school colors so I came up with these.

Sock Wars III

I meant to say in my previous post that my Assassin and I chose very similar colors for the socks in the war.

Sock Wars III

These are the socks that killed me, they are beautiful and I really like them.

They were knitted by my assassin in Tofutsies yarn.

Sock Wars III

These are the socks I was making for my target. My Assassin killed me before I could finish them.

My new Blog

This is my new blog. I had one here years ago but never really kept it up.
This time I hope to be better about posting to it.
I'm going to create a completed folder because I'd really like to show off some of my work.
I just hope I can figure it all out.
